Discover The Beautiful Yorkshire 3 Peaks

The Yorkshire 3 Peaks is a particularly famous challenge following a route of 24 Miles (38.6km) walking up 3 peaks in Yorkshire in one go. The peaks are Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, in total the hike includes 1585m of ascent equivalent to over 5,200ft.

Pen-y-ghent is 694m, Whernside is 736m and Ingleborough is 723m. The mathematicians amongst you will have calculated that those figures add up to more than 1585m however these figures represent the total elevation. The walk starts at an existing elevation so the 1585m takes in the ascent distance.

The route can be started at any point, however many people start in Horton-on-ribbleside which is where our map below starts.

Accessibility, Transport, Parking and Refreshments

It’s easiest to Drive when completing the route, and there are multiple car parks throughout the route depending on where you start. One example is in Horton-on-ribbleside.

You can also get the train to Horton-in-Ribbleside via the Settle-Carlisle-Railway, more details of which can be found here: https://settle-carlisle.co.uk/tickets-times-travel/timetables/leeds-settle-carlisle-timetable/.

The station is relatively close to the start of the route also.

Refreshments are available throughout the route, at some locations such as Horton-in-Ribbleside and Ingleton. Throughout the route or close to it there are a few establishments for food however it’s recommended that you pack food and refreshments for the walk itself to set a great time!
